Everyone who knows me knows that my favorite weekend of the year is Columbus Day weekend, because that's when my hometown celebrates Autumnfest. Autumnfest Weekend is really no big deal if you don't like apple picking, pumpkins, local bands, fair food, cool weather, crafts, carnival rides, New England, or anything that's good.
Waltham's Sheep Shearing Festival at Gore Place is my springtime equivalent to Autumnfest. It's only 1 day, not an entire weekend, so we've hit some rainy days in the past. But this year, the 30th anniversary of the festival, was bright and beautiful and perfect. My favorite part is the sheep dog herding demonstration - "BONNIE, NO!!!" (you'd get that if you've been to sheepfest). And also watching the sheep completely surrender immediately when they are taken out of the pen to be sheared.

I have witnessed this festival two years ago. I think it is the 28th year of Sheepshearing that time. It was such a fun event. The festival has lots of booths that sell jewelry, pots and candles. But the main event, of course, was the grandest of all. I learned all about wool through the demos and the activities I participated.

These pictures are fantastic! I like this festival and dream to attend it one day. I love animals very much and I believe that they have a positive influence on both little children and adult people. I like places where you can watch them, play with them, take care of them and to feel this special connection. This experience could bring you the real relaxation.
